bloodandbrineName(s) - The Luidaeg
Sphere - Darkness
Age - Her true age is unknown beyond 'old as shit' (thousands of years, considering her father's been AWOL for at least 500). She's a shapeshifter, but normally looks somewhere between late teens and early twenties.
Physical Description - The Luidaeg is a shapeshifter. She's got two favored forms for interacting with people to not freak them out. One is a human woman/girl around 17-20, with curly dark hair (usually tied back) and skin light enough to see freckles and acne scars. She adopts driftglass green eyes that have slightly too big irises to be human and slightly pointed ears, making her look comfortably of fae desent but not enough to be of consequence. Her clothing is normally things like flannel and denim and sweats, but she's capable of dressing up if she wants to be inconspicuous.
What appears to be her natural form has black, weedy hair that can cut like razors, mother-of-pearl skin with hints of scales and eyes as dark as the ocean. Basically think 'the type of mythological being who will drown ships for the lulz' and you get in the right zip code.
Other - As I mentioned, she's a shapeshifter and tends to slip back into what appears to be her normal form when pissed off -- if her eyes start to resemble the ocean, be scared. If her skin fades to mother-of-pearl, be very scared. Her magic smells of loam and frost and generally autumn. Iron hurts her, but isn't enough on its own to kill her -- she'll still get pretty damn pissed if you even try to touch her with it.
The Luidaeg can probably move like the most graceful thing that graced the world, but she mimics humanity, including the way we don't move like that.
Patronage - I can see the Luidaeg only taking one or two proteges at a time, though she'd reserve the right to change her mind if someone caught her eye. From canon, we have a short interaction between her and one of the Roane and relationships with Toby as a guide to how she treats proteges.
To Mary, a Roane with prophetic gifts and problems with controlling them, the Luidaeg is a caring mother figure, albeit somewhat distant. The Luidaeg outright says that Mary's gifts and her mind have gotten a bit unhinged by the Roane near-genocide, so she treats her with kid gloves and is basically a parent reassuring a sick child.
To Toby, the Luidaeg is often cranky and sarcastic and somewhat insulting… but she gives good advice and is pretty good at figuring Toby out. She occasionally does tell Toby to do things, but never things that go against Toby's nature. She also can't lie (except to Selkies and Roane -- it's a Firstborn thing), though she's got 'enigmatic' down. Also 'because I said so, that's why'.
I mentioned the 'Toby, stop this war' thing as an example of bossing people around. She also drags Toby out to attend Toby's boyfriend's wake, when Toby is in the serious 'can't deal with grief' stage because she notes that it will help Toby to grieve with Connor's family. At this time, she also is genuinely sympathetic, even as she tells Toby that she needs to start healing, she knocks off the insults. In general, if she tells you to do something and forces the issue, it's for your own good. Similarly any power granted will have a price, though she might not call it due: technically she's occasionally done the whole Dread Pirate Roberts ("Good night, I'll probably kill you in the morning.") thing to Toby a few times.
She also will expect you to visit and spend time with her. And bring food if you can get it.
Permissions - Ping me if you want to try anything with serious physical or mental harm. Possibly because you might be turned corporeal just so the Luidaeg can eat you.
Also, the Luidaeg reserves the right to harm you for bothering her, though she's... less likely to do this to her proteges (and if she does, it's usually for a good reason like 'you asked me for something and I needed your blood to do it... and warning you would make you flinch, so suck it up').
